    Chirurgie esthAi??tique : la rAi??flexion sai??i??imposeai??i??

21 mai Cosmetic or plastic surgery is no trivial matter. And not just because a person may become unrecognizable or lose something of their character, as has recently happened with celebrities. Misinformation and the tendency to make light of cosmetic surgery lead us to overlook the fact that it is still surgery, with all the associated risks. An Australian initiative recommends a mandatory cooling-off period of at least a week. The Medical Board of Australia, which regulates medical practice in this country, wishes to remedy the current situation with its publication of a guide that recommends a cooling-off period before any operation. The aim is for the patient to consider all aspects of their decision to undergo a surgical procedure for purely cosmetic reasons. Caution is crucial, especially in light of complaints and cases of malpractice by unqualified personnel operating in ill-equipped clinics. The Medical Board of Australia recommends that adults who wish to undergo cosmetic surgery go through a mandatory cooling-off period of at least a week before getting medical clearance to go ahead. In the case of underage children, this period should be three months and should include assessment by a psychologist or psychiatrist. This cooling-off period should ensure that patients are fully informed before they sign their consent to the surgery. Australian professionals acknowledge that many people undergo surgery for aesthetic reasons without paying due attention to the risks and complications ai??i?? especially considering the lack of proper regulation of both the equipment and facilities used and of the qualifications of the persons performing the procedure. As Tony Kane, President of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, stated in The Guardian: "Any invasive, surgical procedure ai??i?? whether it be cardiac or cosmetic ai??i?? involves a potential risk and should be taken very seriously." Although in most countries law regulates informed consent, this does not mean that problems may not arise afterwards, whether because the person was not satisfied with the procedure or because there were unexpected complications, which, unfortunately, do occur and are often trivialized. So, think twice before going under the knife if it isnai??i??t strictly necessary. +info: The wrinkle filler crisis New cellulite treatment Winning the war against wrinkles
